Note to Authors

Submissions are competitive. Please, send us something too exciting to pass up!

What is Loose Leaves looking for?

  1. We accept completed manuscripts of fiction and nonfiction from both published and unpublished writers.
  2. We specialize in works of historical or cultural significance, but we also publish books outside these categories.

What do we decline?

  1. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. Write your own stories and share your own characters!
  2. We are not, at this time, interested in producing poetry or short fiction.
  3. We are open to all genres except horror and romance, although romantic stories contained within a historical or literary context will be considered.
  4. We do not accept works containing gratuitous sex or violence, regardless of genre.

Our goal is to preserve an author's story and voice while making the finished book more appealing to potential readers.

How do I submit my work?

You'll find detailed information in our Submission Guidelines.

When will I receive a response?

We appreciate having the opportunity to review your work and we pledge to make every effort to respond in a timely manner. We will assign an editor to read and review the sample chapters from your manuscript. Each book is given individual attention. If we are interested in your work we will request the full manuscript.

Reviewing your manuscript represents a serious commitment. If you have submitted to multiple publishers and choose to work with one of them, please let us know so we may congratulate you and remove your title from our editorial review list.

We invite you to read "The Publishing Industry" by Tom Grundner, the man who inspired the creation of Loose Leaves. His analysis describes the pros and cons of modern publishing and describes the way our company works, and why.
